A New Review for Wyvern’s Outlaw

Wyvern's Outlaw, #7 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeHere’s a new review from Heather for Wyvern’s Outlaw:

“I really liked this one in the series. Ryke and Anguissa intrigued me when they showed up in Thalina’s book, Wyvern’s Warrior, so I looked forward to their story. It didn’t disappoint. It was action filled, passionate, and had strong characters. Loved every moment of their story, though I did want more from the ending. That happened way too fast for my taste.  It definitely could have been drawn out more. Other than that, loved it.”

You can read the review on Heather’s blog, Rendezvous with a Romance, right here.

Thank you, Heather!

Interview at The Reading Frenzy – and a Review

Wyvern's Angel, book #9 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeI did an interview with Debbie Haupt at the Reading Frenzy about Wyvern’s Angel, and it’s posted today. We chatted about books and writing and my various series.

Come on over!

Here’s a bit from Deb’s review of Wyvern’s Angel, too:
“Cooke’s latest dragon shifter tale continues to be a mix of sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal romance and stars Percipia, Princess number five and her Angel mate, Bond. It’s a space dragon drama that will draw readers in with a fluent narrative an imaginative well mapped out world, an impressive and inventive storytelling style and a vast stable of interesting characters.”

Thanks, Deb! You can read the whole review at the bottom of the interview.

Wyvern’s Angel is Live!

Wyvern's Angel, book #9 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeWyvern’s Angel was uploaded to all of the portals last night, which was sooner than I’d expected so that’s a good thing.

This morning, it’s live at Kobo, Amazon, and GooglePlay. It’s in review at iBooks. I’ve put it in my online store, as well.

My newsletter will go out tomorrow.

Thanks again for your patience!

buy directly from Deborah’s Selz store. (The ebook will be delivered by BookFunnel.)

The print mini-book will be available once Nimue’s Gift is published.

Wyvern’s Angel

Wyvern's Angel, book #9 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeWyvern’s Angel is running late in the final production and formatting. 😦 I was late getting the book written and missed my slot with my editor. Everyone pulled together to get it done, but we didn’t quite make it. Right now, the book is being proofread and it will be published immediately after that.

I’m hoping for tomorrow.

I moved the delivery dates at KOBO and iBooks into June, because they (esp iBooks) need time to process the book file which they didn’t have yet. When I upload the book file, I’ll move the publication date back to make the book available immediately. At iBooks, there will be a slight delay, since they manually review all book files. I’ll publish to the other portals at the same time.

Fingers crossed that you’ll be able to get the book tomorrow at most portals and from iBooks by the end of the week.

My Dragons & Angels newsletter will go out Thursday or Friday and will include a special offer for subscribers.

The next short story in the Dragons of Incendium series will be Nimue’s Gift. The print edition of Wyvern’s Angel will be available when Nimue’s Gift is published and can be included in the print book.

The next romance in the series will be Peri and Nero’s story, Wyvern’s Wizard.

What threw my schedule was preparing the first eight Dragonfire novels for re-publication. Six of them are done now and the seventh will be locked and loaded today, so I’ll be back to my regular rhythm very soon.

Thanks for your patience! I really like Bond and Percipia’s story and hope you do, as well.

Nimue’s Gift and Timelines

Nimue's Gift, book #10 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeThe next short story in the Dragons of Incendium story will be Nimue’s Gift. This short story will be published this summer, as soon as I can get to it. I’m up to my eyes in the new editions for Dragonfire right now, but that will be done soon.

Nimue’s Gift will be included in the print edition of Wyvern’s Angel, so look for that print edition to be published at roughly the same time.

This short story will get our timeline back on track. 🙂

You may have noticed that Wyvern’s Outlaw overlaps the timeline of Wyvern’s Warrior. Anguissa’s story starts about 2/3 of the way through Thalina’s story. This is one thing, but Wyvern’s Angel also overlaps the storyline of Wyvern’s Warrior – Percipia’s story starts even before Anguissa’s story does. So, these three stories actually occur almost concurrently. This means that there will be three royal infants born at almost the same time, so naturally, a dragon like Ouros would host a party to celebrate. That’s what happens in Nimue’s Gift.

In terms of the timeline, in the meantime, in Celo’s Quest, Celo came to Incendium with a pregnant Gemma. So, this story occurred after these three romances. In the epilogue of Wyvern’s Angel, Gemma’s baby has been born – so technically, Celo’s Quest occurs before that epilogue. Nimue’s Gift happens after all of that. King Ouros has delayed both his hunting trip to Terra with Ignita and his mission to Cumae with Acion and Arkan, both of which will happen after Nimue’s Gift.

The next romance in the series will be Nero and Peri’s story, Wyvern’s Wizard. I’m thinking this will happen concurrently with Bellatora and Celo’s story, Wyvern’s Hunter, but we’ll see how it all shakes out. More about both of those stories closer to publication.

Of course, there’s a reason why there’s all this romantic activity in the royal family of Incendium at the same time, even though these dragon shifters live for centuries. You’ll learn more about that in Nimue’s Gift. 🙂

Signed Bundle of Books

Wyvern's Outlaw, #7 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeI’ve added a new product to my online store: the Dragons of Incendium Print Series Bundle includes signed copies of all the mini-books in the series so far. You’ll also receive a free tote bag with your order.

Right now, the bundle includes the minibook editions of Wyvern’s Mate, Wyvern’s Prince, Wyvern’s Warrior and Wyvern’s Outlaw, but I’ll be adding Wyvern’s Angel to the bundle once the print copies of that title arrive. I’ll let you know when that happens, or you can bookmark the product page in the store, which is right here. Remember the store operates in Canadian dollars.

Tangled Timelines

Wyvern's Warrior, #5 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeOne of the interesting things for me about the Incendium series is how the stories lead to each other and connect to each other. Usually, I wrote series in which each book follows the previous one in the chronology of the world. The sequence is linear. Incendium has never been like that. It started with Nero’s Dream. Characters meet before it’s time for their own story, usually to share details that explain more of the world. Characters tell stories about what happened in the past – that includes Nero, Arista, Kraw (although he was outed by the ShadowCaster), and Celo. 2018 seems to be the year of the world guide for me, so I’m compiling lists and spreadsheets like mad. While there are several ongoing references already compiled for this series – see Guides to Incendium – this week, I’ve been charting out the full chronology of Incendium as told to date. That’s also helping me to plan the rest of the series in greater detail and make sure I don’t leave anything out.

So, here’s a fun Incendium fact for you: the chronologies of Wyvern’s Warrior, Wyvern’s Outlaw and Wyvern’s Angel overlap.

Wyvern's Outlaw, #7 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeIn Wyvern’s Warrior, Anguissa returns to Incendium on her ship, the Archangel. She then helps Acion and Thalina escape. About a heartbeat later 🙂 the Archangel encounters the ship of Captain Hellemut again. Anguissa leaves the Archangel, while Acion and Thalina continue their story.

But Anguissa’s story (Wyvern’s Outlaw) starts when she leaves the Archangel. She meets Ryke on Captain Hellemut’s ship and recognizes him as the Carrier of the Seed.

Meanwhile, back on Incendium, Bond and Percipia’s story (Wyvern’s Angel) starts with the Archangel’s return to port. In fact, Bond has already left the starport by the time we meet Anguissa in Wyvern’s Warrior. This is kind of bending my mind a bit, but it is fun.

Wyvern's Angel, book #9 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeI’ve also realized that these three dragon shifter princesses will all be meeting their destined mate, falling in love, and getting pregnant at the same time. The birth of three royal babies in rapid succession certainly calls for a party.

In Wyvern’s Mate, the High Priestess of Nimue arrived to bless the baby. Who will arrive on Incendium to bless these three children? Or will they be given wishes instead? And what about Gemma’s child? Once again, I have a second generation of shifters to accommodate in my paranormal world. The short story after Wyvern’s Angel will be about the party for those three babies.

More details to come!

Wyvern’s Angel

Wyvern's Angel, #9 of the Dragons of Incendium series of paranormal romances by Deborah CookeI’ve moved the publication date for Wyvern’s Angel into May. It turns out that the Pyr – my Dragonfire shifters – are consuming a lot of my time, as I prepare the new editions of the first eight Dragonfire books. We have a system now, and are past the halfway point, but Wyvern’s Angel isn’t written yet.

Boo. I’m not thrilled about making this change, but reality sometimes bites.

If you pre-ordered at Nook, please cancel your pre-order and wait for the new link. I unpublished the book there but a new buy link will reappear closer to the publication date. I’m changing the distribution method for getting my books at Nook. This shouldn’t be your issue, but I learned this week that Nook will merrily fulfil pre-orders for books that have been unpublished, even if there isn’t a book file. Gah. Better that you cancel the order now, rather than try to get a refund in April. I’m trying to get them to sort this out at the back end, but the easiest solution is for you to cancel your pre-order.
